AUBURN – The Auburn University Cycling Team is hosting the sixth annual Auburn Flyers Race Saturday and Sunday for more than 150 bicyclists from across the Southeast.
Cyclists will ride Saturday in Tallapoosa County beginning at Horseshoe Bend National Military Park at starting times occurring from 9:15 a.m. to 10:10 a.m. for different divisions. Distances will range from 26 miles to 78 miles. A team time trial will be held at 3 p.m. at the military park.
On Sunday, the cyclists will compete along a three-quarter-mile route though the AU Campus, with starting times ranging from 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. for different divisions. The divisions include men’s and women’s categories and levels for experienced and less-experienced riders.
The riders, from the Southeastern Collegiate Cycling Conference, will be from schools such as Auburn, University of Georgia, University of Florida, Lees McRae College, Cumberland University and Florida State University. They will be competing for points which will be totaled at the end of the season to determine qualifiers for the Collegiate National Road Race in Kansas.
