AUBURN – AT&T Inc. has donated $200, 000 to support the Pathways project in AU’s College of Business. Pathways includes a summer enrichment camp to recruit underrepresented students; an endowed scholarship program to promote retention; and support services to encourage student success. AT&T joins Energen Corporation as a lead corporate sponsor in this new initiative.
The Pathways program is directed by Gary Waters, associate dean of undergraduate programs, and is scheduled to begin this summer.
“Through its land grant traditions of service and access, the Auburn University College of Business recognizes its duty to Alabama and its citizens,” said Waters. “The Pathways Summer Enrichment Camp is especially important in providing access to underrepresented groups within our student population. In addition, this program is an opportunity for the state, through Auburn University, to retain future business leaders.”
Paul Bobrowski, dean of the College of Business, believes the Pathways program will bring the college one step closer to accomplishing its strategic goals.
“The strategic plan is to provide the necessary structure and direction for achieving our vision of a top 20 ranking,” said Bobrowski. “Among our highest priorities is preparing students to assume leadership roles in a diverse, global economy. We believe the ability to mirror the diverse environment of today’s global economy in the classroom is critical to our success,” he said. “The College of Business is grateful to have the confidence and support of AT&T.”
The gift counts in the “It Begins at Auburn” Campaign, the university’s multi-year fundraising effort. The campaign goal is to raise funds for all colleges and schools on campus as well as AU libraries and museums, athletics and Auburn University at Montgomery. The campaign’s focus includes student, faculty and program endowments; facility, equipment and campus beautification; research; and current operations.
The College of Business at Auburn University is accredited at the undergraduate and graduate levels by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International), the highest standard of achievement for business schools. Less than one-third of U.S. business schools and only 15 percent of business schools worldwide meet the rigorous standards of AACSB International accreditation.
