Auburn University Concert Band to perform Thursday, will feature original work by Auburn graduate

AUBURN – The Auburn University Concert Band will present its second concert of the spring semester on Thursday, April 8 at 7:30 p.m. at Lakeview Baptist Church. The concert is free of charge.

A selection of traditional and contemporary works for wind band will include Alfred Reed’s “The Hounds of Spring,” Fisher Tull’s “Sketches on a Tudor Psalm,” Jonathan Newman’s “Moon by Night, and Thomas Duffy’s The Philosopher’s Stone.

The performance will also feature the premier performance of a new work by Auburn University graduate, Dustin White. The piece, “Because the Wilderness Says So,” is inspired by the poetry of Carl Sandburg and was composed for the Auburn University Concert Band. The program will conclude with the nationalistic march, “Americans We,” by Henry Fillmore.
