Auburn’s ‘Shed the Red’ Beat Georgia Clothing Drive to benefit area Goodwill

AUBURN – Auburn University’s Department of Athletics and Office of Trademark Management and Licensing have teamed with Goodwill Industries to sponsor a “Shed the Red” clothing drive Nov. 8-12 leading up to the football game against the University of Georgia. Donations will benefit Goodwill in the Auburn-Opelika area.

Tiger fans can donate gently used red clothing at participating Auburn and Opelika retailers and at the Goodwill location on Pepperell Parkway in Midway Plaza and receive a percentage off the All Auburn All Orange T-shirt or other Auburn product. The football game against UGA is the final All Auburn All Orange event of the fall. Students, alumni and fans are encouraged to wear their All Auburn All Orange T-shirts. Royalties from the T-shirts support the Auburn Student Government Association’s Big Event, which organizes thousands of students to perform service projects in the community on one specific day. Funds from the sale of the T-shirt help purchase supplies for the service projects.

“We are excited to partner with Goodwill in the ‘Shed the Red’ promotion,” said Scott Carr, Auburn’s senior associate athletic director for external affairs. “This is a great way for the Auburn family to give back to the community.”
