AUBURN – Hal Nix ’41 and Margaret Nix, of Matthews, NC, recently donated two endowed scholarships to the Auburn University Scholarship Campaign. The scholarships will be allocated to general scholarships at the university for students from North Carolina.
The gift will support the Auburn Scholarship Campaign which hopes to raise $15 million by December 2011 to strengthen Auburn’s merit scholarship program for exceptional undergraduate students.
“I love Auburn and wanted to give local North Carolina students the opportunity to have the Auburn experience,” said Nix. “Without scholarships many students may not be able to attend the college of their choice or college at all.”
The Auburn Scholarship Campaign offers alumni and friends a unique opportunity to help provide considerably larger scholarships to recipients. Gifts are paired with current Spirit of Auburn or Academic Scholarships, which range from $2,500 to more than full tuition annually. As a result, students receive a more attractive and competitive financial package.
