AUBURN - Sunday, Oct. 7, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Village Mall in Auburn, teams from 24 local middle and high schools participating in the 2007 Alabama B.E.S.T. robotics competition will field test the robots they've been working on for the last four weeks. (Colonial Mall, at Opelika Highway and East University Drive, has just been renamed Village Mall.)

Alabama B.E.S.T. is co-sponsored by the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering and College of Sciences and Mathematics at Auburn University.

Four weeks ago the teams received their kits of standardized parts and were given the details of this year's game. During the past four weeks they have designed and built robots to compete in the Alabama B.E.S.T. Robotics competition which will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, at Lee Scott Academy.

After this field test, the team members will go back to their schools to make final adjustments in preparation for the actual competition.

This robotic field testing is open to the public.
