AUBURN – The Auburn University Singers will present the opening performance of their 2008 annual Spring Show on Saturday, April 26, at 3:30 p.m in AU’s Telfair Peet Theater. Other performances are scheduled for Sunday, April 27, at 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Tuesday, April 29, at 5:45 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.
Under the direction of Dale Farmer, the show choir will present an array of popular and show music including “Eye of the Tiger,” “Knock on Wood” and a medley of tunes from the 50s and current Broadway shows. Individuals and small groups will be featured in performances of contemporary styles such as country, rock ‘n’ roll and inspirational music.
Celebrating its 36th anniversary this year, the choral entertainment ensemble is an auditioned group of 36 singers and nine instrumentalists that has been presenting its distinct combination of choreography and choral sound since its founding in 1972. The Singers have performed for television, schools, churches and professional and civic organizations in hundreds of locales worldwide from the Auburn campus to Warsaw, Poland. Members of the group come from across the country and major in many academic disciplines.
