Opelika city official to speak on “Challenges for Local Government” for AU lecture series

AUBURN – John A. Seymour Jr., city administrator of Opelika, will speak on “Challenges for Local Government” as part of Auburn University’s annual Gordon Sherman Lecture Series at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, at Graystone Mansion, 434 East Magnolia Ave. A reception will follow.

The lecture series is presented by AU’s Master of Public Administration Program in the College of Liberal Arts’ Political Science Department. It was made possible through the generosity of alumnus Gordon M. Sherman, who established the endowment bring distinguished public servants to Auburn to promote understanding of and interest in public service careers.

A September lecture will feature Garrey E. Carruthers, dean of business at New Mexico State University, former governor of New Mexico and former assistant U.S. interior secretary.
