Miss Leeds Area Courtney Porter, 2009 Auburn University graduate, took the crown at the Miss Alabama 2011 competition, Saturday, June 11. The competition was held at Samford University’s Wright Center in Birmingham.
Porter, who studied communications at Auburn, was among eight other Auburn students and graduates and one incoming freshman, of whom three were top five finalists and five were top 10 finalists.
Other Auburn University contestants included: Miss Point Ballard Haley Bagwell, second runner up, junior in public relations; Miss Smiths Station Jordan Dailey, fourth runner up, 2011 Auburn University graduate; Miss Auburn University Emilee Williams, top10 finalist, junior in civil engineering with a minor in hunger studies; and Miss Central Alabama Rebecca Whitlow, top 10 finalist, 2011 Auburn University graduate.
Porter, who competed with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America as her platform, will continue on to represent the state of Alabama in the Miss America 2012 Pageant.
