“Brown brings to the position extensive experience in strategic planning as well as training, development and team building,” said Debbie Shaw, vice president for alumni affairs and executive director of the Auburn Alumni Association. “We are fortunate to have someone on our staff with such strong executive management experience. He will be overseeing most of our departments and providing leadership in strategic planning and financial management, as well as working with the board of directors of the Auburn Alumni Association.”
Prior to returning to Auburn, Brown served as an officer in the United States Navy for eight years, owned a financial planning business and worked in retail store management for 11 years. For the last three years, he has served as a volunteer with the Office of Alumni Affairs assisting with graduation, activities at the Alumni Hospitality Tent and other administrative and service projects.
“I am extremely honored, privileged and ecstatic about the opportunity to work for the Office of Alumni Affairs and Auburn University,” Brown said. “First and foremost, I am here to take care of our alumni. I look forward to meeting the wide variety of people I will encounter in this position. I am genuinely thrilled and grateful to be here.”
Brown’s wife, Regina, is a 1992 graduate of Auburn University’s College of Business. She teaches flight lessons to Auburn students and members of the community and is a commander in the United States Navy Reserve.
The Office of the Vice President for Alumni Affairs provides programs and services for over 200,000 Auburn University alumni around the world and promotes membership in the Auburn Alumni Association. The division is located in the Auburn Alumni Center.
