AUBURN – Auburn University is hosting the second stage of the 2009 Southern Collegiate Bass Fishing Series on Lake Guntersville this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 20-21. More than 100 anglers are expected to compete from schools such as Auburn, Alabama, North Alabama, UAB, Montevallo, Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia and Mississippi.
“This series is drawing a lot of attention nationwide as this is one of the largest collegiate tournament series being run at the present time,” said Auburn club advisor Jann Swaim.
Weigh-ins will be held at Covenant Cove Resort near Guntersville at 3 p.m. Friday and at 2 p.m. Saturday. Following the Saturday weigh-in, awards will be presented to first-, second- and third-place finishers. The public is invited to the weigh-ins and to the awards ceremony.
Auburn recently won first and third places in the opening stage of the series on Lake Neely-Henry near Gadsden. The series will continue on Lake Wheeler March 13-14 and the championship will be held on Lake Wilson April 17-18.
