AUBURN – The Auburn University Office of Accessibility and the College of Education’s Department of Kinesiology will co-host the first Auburn Wheelchair Basketball Invitational, Sunday, March 4, at Auburn Arena.
The tournament will feature three games: Auburn vs. Lakeshore Foundation at noon; Lakeshore Foundation vs. Shepherd Center at 2 p.m.; and Auburn vs. Shepherd Center at 4 p.m.
Admission to the tournament is free. Spectators can gain access to the arena through the building’s Scholarship entrance.
AUBURN – The Auburn University Men’s Wheelchair Basketball team will play the University of Alabama Men’s Wheelchair Basketball team in the first “Iron Roll,” Saturday, April 2, in the Catherine Dixon Roland Arena at Huntingdon College in Montgomery.
The game is part of the Montgomery Center for Independent Living Wheelchair Basketball event hosted by the Huntingdon College Sport Science Department, which will also feature a local celebrities game with radio, television and sports personalities from the Montgomery area including Judd Davis and Josh Johnson of WSFA; JT of Mix 103.3; Doug Amos and Josh Moon of AM 740; and Greg Rauch and Joe Davis of the Montgomery Biscuits. Huntingdon teams will play in brief exhibition games as well.
AUBURN – The NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee has selected Auburn University to serve as a first- and second-round host for the 2011 NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship.
The games will take place in the new Auburn Arena, which will be in its first year of operation. The 2011 event will mark the first time for Auburn to host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament under its current bid format.
