The Alabama Senate confirmed Raymond J. Harbert as a member of the Auburn University Board of Trustees on Tuesday, March 24. Harbert fills the at-large position on the Auburn Board previously held by Earlon McWhorter of Anniston. He is chairman and chief executive officer of Harbert Management Corp. Harbert graduated from Auburn in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in industrial management.
AUBURN – The Women’s Philanthropy Board, in Auburn University’s College of Human Sciences, will host its 2008 Fall Luncheon on Friday, Sept. 19, from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center. The featured speaker will be Susan Story, AU alumna and president and CEO of Gulf Power Company, headquartered in Pensacola, Fla.
Story has served as president and CEO of Gulf Power Company since 2003. Gulf Power is a subsidiary of Southern Company, one of the largest producers of electricity in the United States. Story joined Southern Company in 1982 as a nuclear plant engineer. Throughout her tenure, she served as Executive Vice President of Southern Company Engineering and Construction Services, Vice President of Southern Company Supply Chain Management, and as Vice President of Real Estate and Corporate Services at Alabama Power Company. In addition to her professional leadership, Story is an active philanthropist and serves on numerous industry, civic and state-wide boards. Throughout the years she has been recognized for her business and philanthropic leadership.
