Alabama Governor’s recovery commission, Coast Guard Admiral to participate in Auburn-led coastal restoration conference

AUBURN – U.S. Coast Guard Rear Admiral Mary Landry and members of Gov. Bob Riley’s Coastal Recovery Commission have been added to the list of speakers and panelists for Auburn University’s forum, “Alabama Road to Restoration: Integrated Recovery Strategies for the Gulf Coast.”

The conference is scheduled for Oct. 5-6 in Orange Beach, Ala., and will be an opportunity for stakeholders to explore ways to support and shape recovery efforts in the Gulf Coast region related to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The forum at the Perdido Beach Resort is open to the public; pre-registration is required.

Gov. Riley declares February Alabama Healthy Marriage Month

AUBURN – Gov. Bob Riley has proclaimed February as “Alabama Marriage Month,” and will sign a proclamation on Friday, Feb. 8, declaring the importance of healthy, stable relationships and marriages for Alabama citizens and communities.

In conjunction with this activity, the Alabama Community Healthy Marriage Initiative, of which Auburn University is a member, will be hosting marriage celebration events throughout the state.
