Auburn gingerbread village to be unveiled Dec. 6

2013 Auburn Gingerbread VillageAUBURN UNIVERSITY – The sixth annual unveiling of the Auburn gingerbread village Friday, Dec. 6, at 5 p.m. will launch holiday festivities for The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center. Between 5 and 8 p.m. on Friday, visitors can view the village in the lobby and enjoy cookies and hot chocolate. The village will then be on display throughout the month of December.

The gingerbread village is a collaborative project between students and faculty from the Master of Integrated Design and Construction program in the College of Architecture, Design and Construction and general manager Hans van der Reijden and chefs of the hotel.

Auburn University Radio Flyer Theatre adapts classics for holiday broadcasts

AUBURN UNIVERSITY – The Auburn University Radio Flyer Theatre in the College of Liberal Arts will be featured on Troy University Public Radio throughout the month of December.

The group’s production of O. Henry’s “The Gift of the Magi” will air on Community Focus on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at noon. A special one-hour broadcast of five more stories from the group’s repertoire including Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Elves and the Shoemaker,” “The Little Match Girl” and “The Emperor’s New Clothes,” along with O. Henry’s “A Service of Love” and “The Green Door,” will air Friday, Dec. 21, at 9 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 24, at noon.

Since 2009, Auburn University Theatre has created productions in the style of the Golden Age of Radio featuring the Radio Flyer Theatre Company. Under the direction of Dan LaRocque, Radio Flyer Theatre adapts beloved classics for all audiences, often with a seasonal theme.
