Auburn University to recognize philanthropist Howard Buffett, Apple’s Tim Cook at 20th annual IQLA event

AUBURN UNIVERSITY – Auburn University’s College of Human Sciences will honor Howard Buffett, chairman and CEO of the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, and Tim Cook, CEO of Apple and a 1982 alumnus of Auburn’s Samuel Ginn College of Engineering, for the 20th International Quality of Life Awards on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.

The College of Human Sciences established the International Quality of Life Awards in 1994 to recognize people and partnerships that make significant and lasting contributions to individual, family and community well-being locally and around the world.

Auburn University to honor PBS and Alabama governor and first lady in award ceremony at United Nations

AUBURN – Auburn University’s College of Human Sciences will honor PBS, an American nonprofit broadcasting system with 356 member stations, as the recipient of the 2010 International Quality of Life Award in a ceremony at the United Nations on Monday, Dec. 6. President and CEO Paula Kerger will accept for PBS. The College of Human Sciences will also honor Alabama Gov. Bob Riley and First Lady Patsy Riley with its 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award.

This annual event, now in its 17th year, was launched in 1994 by Auburn University’s College of Human Sciences to recognize people and partnerships that have made significant and lasting contributions to individual, family and community well being locally and around the world.

Auburn honors Susan G. Komen for the Cure founder in ceremony at United Nations

AUBURN – Ambassador Nancy G. Brinker, founding chair of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, was honored Dec. 7 in a ceremony at the United Nations in New York as the 2009 International Quality of Life Awards laureate.

This annual event was launched in 1994 by Auburn University’s College of Human Sciences to recognize people and partnerships that have made significant and lasting contributions to individual, family, and community well-being locally and around the world.

Auburn University hosts International Quality of Life Awards ceremony at United Nations

Auburn Universitys College of Human Sciences held its 15th annual International Quality of Life Awards ceremony on Saturday, Jan. 31, at the United Nations in New York. Teresa Heinz, chair of The Heinz Endowments and Heinz Family Philanthropies, was honored as the 2008 International Quality of Life Awards laureate while music artist Emmylou Harris received the College of Human Sciences Lifetime Achievement Award.
