International Opera Institute to perform at Jule Collins Smith Museum

AUBURN – The Jule Collins Smith Museum of Art and the Honors College at Auburn University will host performances by the International Opera Institute at the art museum in Auburn at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, and Friday, Oct. 7.

Based in Palm Springs, Calif., the International Opera Institute is a charitable and educational performing arts company whose mission is to “increase the awareness, appreciation and understanding of opera, as a classical art form in all segments of society, engaging in outreach programs with schools and the public.”

Under the direction of its founder and artistic director Rose Kingsley, an internationally prominent dramatic soprano, the institute presents full operas, concerts, master classes, workshops and lectures.

Auburn University’s Jule Collins Smith Museum to present first opera concert April 22

AUBURN – The Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art at Auburn University will present its first opera concert Friday, April 22, at 5 p.m. “Masters of Melody” will be performed by baritone Carl Ratner accompanied by David Goldberger on piano.

Guests for the free public concert will hear music by Franz Schubert, Giuseppe Verdi, Johannes Brahms, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
