Ideas Being Accepted for Auburn Student Learning Initiative; New ‘QEP’ Part of SACS Accreditation Process

AUBURN – In 2013, Auburn will be considered for reaffirmation of its accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, or SACS. Since Auburn’s last reaffirmation in 2004, the Quality Enhancement Plan, or QEP, has been added to SACS requirements as a project focusing on ways to improve student learning.

“The development of a QEP involves the entire campus community,” said Drew Clark, director of institutional research and assessment, and chair of the SACS reaffirmation process for Auburn University. “It is so critical to the accreditation process that SACS will want to see a completely developed plan identifying the human, physical and financial resources needed to implement the plan, and will require tracking and evaluation strategies to monitor progress.”

ATAC director named senior examiner for 2010 Alabama Quality Award

AUBURN – Henry Burdg, director of the Auburn Technical Assistance Center at Auburn University, has achieved examiner recertification and recently was appointed Senior Examiner for the 2010 Alabama Quality Award.

Modeled after the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the Alabama Quality Award recognizes and honors organizations whose past or recent innovations in areas of production, service or management have resulted in increased productivity and quality.

U.S. News cites Auburn as a top place to live

U.S. News and World Report magazine has caught on to what Auburn residents have known for a long time–that it is a great place to live, attend school and raise a family. The magazine selected the city of Auburn as a top 10 choice among American cities. The rankings recognize Auburn University as a major contributor to the quality of life of city residents.
