Kim Hudson to speak at Auburn’s Women’s Philanthropy Board Winter Board Meeting

AUBURN – The Women’s Philanthropy Board, in Auburn University’s College of Human Sciences, will host its 2011 Winter Board Meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 1, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center. The featured speaker will be Kim Hudson, who co-founded the Hudson Family Foundation with her husband, Tim, a pitcher for the Atlanta Braves.

Barbara Dooley to speak at Women’s Philanthropy Board Fall Luncheon

AUBURN – The Women’s Philanthropy Board, in Auburn University’s College of Human Sciences, will host its 2010 Fall Luncheon on Friday, Oct. 1, from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center. The featured speaker will be Barbara Dooley.

Dooley is a speaker and story teller who uses a sharp wit and Southern humor in her presentations. As a breast cancer survivor and wife to a husband who is a throat cancer survivor, her message is inspirational and powerful.

‘Thriving in the New Normal’ theme of Women’s Philanthropy Board spring symposium

AUBURN – The Women’s Philanthropy Board, in Auburn University’s College of Human Sciences, will present its eighth annual Spring Symposium on Monday, April 26, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center. At this year’s symposium on “Thriving in the ‘New Normal:’ Maximizing Your Philanthropic Footprint,” business and government leaders will discuss financial and economic issues.

The luncheon keynote speaker will be economic journalist and business forecaster Knight Kiplinger, editor in chief of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine, Kiplinger.com and the Kiplinger Letter. Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, founded in 1947, was the first magazine in the field of personal money management. The Letter, a weekly publication started in 1923, is the most widely read and longest-published business forecasting publication in the world. Kiplinger.com is a Web site designed to help people manage their money and managers make decisions.

Women’s Philanthropy Board to feature Women & Co. president at winter board meeting

AUBURN – The Women’s Philanthropy Board, in Auburn University’s College of Human Sciences, will host its annual winter board meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center. The featured speaker will be Linda Descano, president and chief operating officer of Women & Co. This meeting reflects the board’s yearlong focus on “Thriving in the ‘New Normal:’ Maximizing your Philanthropic Footprint.”

Descano oversees management of Women & Co., a division of Citigroup Inc. that provides women with educational resources for financial planning and navigating life transitions. Prior to joining Women & Co. in 2003, she served as director and portfolio manager in Citi’s Private Portfolio Group from 1999 through 2002 where she co-managed customized investment portfolios for individuals and institutions and oversaw the firm’s socially responsible investment program. In 1994, she joined Citi predecessor company Saloman Inc. and served as its senior vice president and director of environmental affairs.

“Caregiving 101” seminar to be hosted in Montgomery by Auburn University’s Women’s Philanthropy Board

AUBURN – The Women’s Philanthropy Board, in Auburn University’s College of Human Sciences, will host “Caregiving 101,” a seminar and luncheon on Friday, Nov. 13, from 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. at The Renaissance Montgomery Hotel and Spa at the Convention Center. Topics will include the legal, financial and managed care aspects of caregiving.

Irene Collins, the commissioner of the Alabama Department of Senior Services, will serve as keynote speaker. Other featured speakers will include Leah Dubberly of the Dubberly Group/Merrill Lynch; Cheri Rudgers, a licensed certified social worker; and Debby Spain of J.D. Capell and Howard.

Olympic gold medalist and Auburn alumna to speak at Auburn’s Women’s Philanthropy Board Fall Luncheon

AUBURN – The Women’s Philanthropy Board, in Auburn University’s College of Human Sciences, will host its 2009 Fall Luncheon on Friday, Sept. 11, from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center. The featured speaker will be Kirsty Coventry, Auburn alumna and Olympic gold medalist.

Coventry is a world-record holder and winner of bronze, silver and gold Olympic medals. In 2000, while still in high school, she entered the world scene in swimming as she reached the semifinals for the Millennium Olympic Games and was named Zimbabwe’s Sports Woman of the Year. This international attention caught the eye of the Auburn Tigers and Coventry was recruited to join the Auburn University women’s swimming team.
